The Forgotten Kingdom is yet another of Jordi Savall‘s impressive projects, involving collaboration between eastern and western musicians. The project manages to take us from the beginnings of Catharism through its demise. And like many an Alia Vox recordings, it’s all about atmosphere.

The Tallis Scholars’ complete Lamentations of Jeremiah by Tomas Luis de Victoria is, as usual, a terrific recording. The addition of lamentations composed by Juan de Padilla was an especially nice touch.
