Mehta Feels the Joy

It was hard to get past the first track on Bejun Mehta‘s recording of Handel arias. Not because I didn’t like it, just the opposite. I was entranced by both his voice and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra‘s playing. The video that Harmonia Mundi produced fed my imagination, as well. The rest of the recording is just as good.

Stutzmann: Unique Contralto

I’ve listened to Nathalie Stutzmann‘s recording of Handel arias with the Hanover Band since it was first released in the early ’90s. Her voice has a special quality that I can’t really put my finger on. No matter, it’s gorgeous and her interpretation of Handel is nothing short of powerful.
