A few early music links of note.
- Mozart’s Money Woes: Musicologist Peter Hoyt has come up with a novel theory that sheds light on Mozart’s final days.
- Houston Luthier Goes Baroque: Violin-maker Dorian Barnes is building instruments for members of the Mercury Baroque Orchestra.
- Mozart Production Crosses the Line: Rape is not often found in a Mozart opera, but the English National Opera’s production of Don Giovanni does introduce it, albeit in a suggested manner. The title character has been upgraded from mere seducer to “seedy rapist,” inciting shock and disdain.
