Links: New Handel & Haydn Concertmaster and Caldara CD Review

A few early music links of note.

  • Nosky to Lead Boston Ensemble: Canadian baroque violinist Aisslin Nosky has been appointed concertmaster of Handel and Haydn Society, a Boston-based period instrument orchestra founded in 1815. Nosky succeeds Daniel Stepner, who has been in the position around twenty-five years.
  • Forgotten Castrato Arias: A new recording of arias by Antonio Caldara, with Philippe Jarrousky and Concerto Köln (Emmanuelle Haïm, dir.), fails to please.
