Links: Paul O’Dette Plays dall’Aquila, Baroque Star Wars, and Gimell Records

A few early music links of note.

  • Paul O’Dette’s beautiful new recording of lute music by Marco dall’Aquila was recorded near L’Aquila, Italy, shortly after the devastating earthquake that hit the area in 2009. He touchingly dedicated it “to the victims of the earthquake (the survivors and the deceased), those brave Aquilani whose richly distinctive culture has nourished my exploration of Marco’s music for the past decade.”
  • Can you imagine what it might be like if Star Wars was conceived in a baroque style? Well, Mattias Adolfsson has done so in a set of witty drawings.
  • Website of the week: Gimell Records is the exclusive recording label of the Tallis Scholars, a British vocal ensemble recognized as one of the world’s leading interpreters of Renaissance sacred music. The label was founded thirty years ago by the ensemble’s stalwart director, Peter Phillips.
