Links: Viva Vivaldi!

A few early music links of note.

  • Cheers: In case you missed it, March 4th was Antonio Vivaldi‘s 332nd birthday. The ginger-haired priest received the internet’s highest honor—a doodle on the Google homepage which gave tribute to the “Four Seasons.”
  • Did you know: Unlike today, the most famous of Vivaldi’s compositions was not the “Seasons” but L’estro armonico, recorded not long ago by Tafelmusik with Elizabeth Wallfisch as violin soloist.
  • Imagine: I wonder what Vivaldi might have thought of his music presented as post-modern theater?
