The Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) will open the 2011-2012 concert season by repeating history. They will present the Opéra Comique production of Jean-Baptiste Lully’s opera Atys with William Christie and Les Arts Florissants.

This re-creation of the 300-year-old French baroque opera by Jean-Baptiste Lully was a major success for the American-born Mr. Christie and the Baroque music ensemble he founded in France, Les Arts Florissants, in 1987. It first traveled from Opéra Comique to BAM in 1989, and returned in 1992; the engagements established a long relationship that has brought Mr. Christie back to BAM repeatedly through the years.
