More Concert Reviews Linked: Anonymous 4 in NYC, Monteverdi Choir in London, and Tafelmusik in Toronto

More early music performance reviews of note.

  • New York City: The beloved vocal quartet Anonymous 4 gave a terrific program (at the Metropolitan Museum) of Christmas music spanning four centuries, including selections from their latest CD, “The Cherry Tree.”
  • London: John Eliot Gardiner directed the Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists in a concert of J.S. Bach cantatas to mark the 10th anniversary of the Bach Cantata Pilgrimage. The performance “produced throughout the evening a lovely golden sound, full of unforced, dancing energy.” Related: The Pilgrimage recording series is finally complete.
  • Toronto: The Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and Choir gave their annual “Messiah” to great effect.
