A few early music links of note.

  • A Very British Honor: Conductor Nicholas McGegan has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
  • Exemplary Handel Recording: Rupert Christiansen of the Telegraph gives high marks to a new recording of Handel’s opera Flavio with the Early Opera Company (Christian Curnyn, dir.).
  • Beethoven Betrayed: Part of NPR’s “Dinner with the Dead” series, American composer Missy Mazzoli chose Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart instead of her true love, Beethoven, as the composer she’d prefer to bring back to life and have dinner with: “[Mozart] was a great dancer, a fantastic dresser, and had, by all accounts, a raucous (and amusingly dirty) sense of humor.”
