Philharmonia Baroque Productions

The Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra (PBO)  has announced the creation of their own recording label, Philharmonia Baroque Productions.

This year alone will see three live recordings, including a showcase of the late mezzo-soprano Lorraine Hunt Lieberson (Berlioz’s Les Nuits d’été and Handel arias), Haydn symphonies, and Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” with soloist Elizabeth Blumenstock.

The PBO’s move to create the label, although having a lengthy commercial recording history, follows a trend with many world-class orchestras which recognize the need for independence, especially as contracts with recording companies of all sizes become more scarce every year.
