In July of 2010, Maltese artist Jeni Caruana attended the Malta Arts Festival where she painted guest artists and ensembles while they performed.

Among the classical and jazz concerts were two performances given by the European Union Baroque Orchestra (EUBO), which presented a program entitled “Maladies and Melodies” of music by Corelli, Muffat, Geminiani, and Handel.

The two paintings available for viewing online are stunning representations of the act of performing. Caruana captures the energy of the moment in a high-individual and powerful way (see above and here).

The following December, she donated one of her EUBO paintings to the Malta Confederation of Women’s Organizations for an event—held at the US Ambassador’s residence in Attard, Malta—which observed the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The painting was one of a number of items raffled off.
