Video: Alamire Performs John Taverner

Many moons ago, I put together a Harmonia program about Obsidian Records and the sole ensemble on its roster, Alamire, which at the time had released around half-a-dozen CDs.

Directed by David Skinner, the ensemble is truly one of the best at interpreting vocal music of the Renaissance (with a special focus on the English repertory).

Alamire now has its own YouTube channel where you can enjoy watching “performances” from various recording sessions. Here’s an excerpt from John Taverner‘s motet Dum transisset sabbatum, (“And when the Sabbath was past”).

It appears that the session took place during Winter.
