The Norwegian baroque orchestra Barokkanerne has been around for over twenty years. For the last couple of decades, they’ve had a new concert series called Cafebarokk, held in downtown Oslo at an intimate venue (seating a mere 120) known as the Cafeteatret.

Each season, the orchestra invites well-known European musicians as guest directors.

The video below is from a concert this season in which the inimitable Italian baroque oboist Alfredo Bernardini leads two pieces for oboe band—James Paisible’s “The Queen’s Farewell” and Andre Danican Philidor’s La Retraite [de la march française].

The performers are Bernardini and Johan Nicolai Mohn, oboe, Molly Marsh, tenor oboe, Per Hannisdal, bassoon, and (orchestra harpsichordist) Christian Kjos, military drum.
