I’ve written about Catalina Vicens and her excellent work as one-half of the duo Per Far Lieto. For some time, Catalina has been studying medieval keyboards at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, concentrating on the organetto and the clavicytherium.

The following video is from her final recital at the ‘Schola’ in which she performs an anonymous setting from the Faenza Codex of the hymn Ave Maris Stella (“Hail, Star of the Sea”) on the clavicytherium, an early type of harpsichord. Catalina is joined by Mathias Spoerry who sings the original plainchant hymn.
