Video: Ensemble Laura Soave Performs Cazzati



It doesn’t matter who composes it or what style it’s in, but I can never get enough of the hypnotic chaconne, a work based on a particular kind of repeating bass line.

The video below is of the Italian variety—a Ciaccona—composed by Maurizio Cazzati for two violins and basso continuo (1660).

It’s an excellent performance by Ensemble Laura Soave (Claudia Combs and Nicholas Robinson, violins, Diego Cantalupi, theorbo, and Davide Pozzi, harpsichord).
