Video: LA GALANÍA Performs Lully

I’ve written about Spanish song at the court of Louis XIV in a previous post and have reviewed one of soprano Raquel Andueza‘s recordings. Prepare yourself to hear the two come together.

Ensemble LA GALANÍA has only just released a debut recording entitled Yo soy la locura, featuring a program of 17th-century Spanish song, which includes the piece heard in the video below—Sé que me muero from Le Bourgeois gentilhomme by Jean-Baptiste Lully.

Andueza is accompanied by Jesús Fernández Baena, theorbo, and Pierre Pitzl, baroque guitar.

The performance and the sequence of still images are very moving (I can’t wait to hear the entire CD).
