Video: The Tallis Scholars Perform Tomás Luis de Victoria

This year marks the 400th anniversary of Tomás Luis de Victoria‘s death.

As in many composer years, we can expect vocal ensembles to explore the numerous brilliant works by Victoria, a Spanish composer and organist widely considered to be one of the finest from the Late Renaissance, on par with Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina.

The renowned Tallis Scholars kick-off the anniversary with a performance of “First Lamentation for Maundy Thursday,” directed by Peter Phillips.
