Lutenists love to arrange Johann Sebastian Bach‘s music for their instrument, which normally means the German Baroque lute (pictured above).

Catalan musician Xavier Díaz-Latorre, one of Europe’s finest period guitarists and lutenists, not only follows suit but plays Bach’s music with a touching beauty.

Here he is performing the first movement, Adagio, from Sonata, BWV 1001, originally for unaccompanied violin.
